Big trees, small trees, lone trees, groves of trees, west coast trees, east coast trees, Southwest trees, Caddo Lake trees; this exhibition celebrates trees, a subject that Charles Cramer is known for far and wide. A master photographer and printer, Cramer studied with the great Ansel Adams... and learned well. Making fine prints has been his obsession for forty years. Only when you see his prints in person, and experience their brilliance and sharpness, do you fully appreciate them.
Charles Cramer is widely recognized as one of the top landscape photographers in the world today. It’s one thing to take great photographs and another to translate great photographs into luminous prints that “sing.” He excels in both! Almost two-dozen stunning large-format color prints will be on display during this exhibition. Sun to Moon Gallery invites you to celebrate the art of the tree, Charles Cramer-style!

Charles Cramer Bio:
A professional photographer for forty years, Charles Cramer revels in exploration and craftsmanship. A masterful artist, his career broadly parallels that of Ansel Adams: an early focus on music, finding inspiration in Yosemite National Park,
and exploring the developing medium of photography. Cramer worked in the darkroom for many years, mastering the complex Dye Transfer process. He was also one of the first landscape photographers to work with the "digital darkroom," recognizing the computer as an unparalleled means to control color and realize his artistic interpretation of the scene.
Cramer was one of a select group of photographers chosen to photograph the Australian island of Tasmania in 2008 as part of "Adobe Lightroom Tasmania Adventure!" He has been profiled in Outdoor Photographer, View Camera, PhotoTechniques, and Photo Vision Magazines and is featured in the books “First Light: Five Photographers Explore Yosemite’s Wilderness” and “Landscape: The World’s Top Photographers.” In 1987 and 2009, Cramer was selected by the National Park Service to be artist-in-residence in Yosemite National Park.
The end goal of Cramer’s photography has always been to make beautiful prints and that is evident in his work. Many of his large-format color photographs are from Yosemite and the Southwest, but his portfolio consists of stunning images from the east coast and other areas as well. His exquisite prints are held in collections worldwide.
In addition to being an outstanding photographer and printer, Cramer is in great demand as an instructor, teaching for the prestigious Ansel Adams Gallery Workshops, John Sexton Workshops and many others. He is teaching a two-day workshop titled “Optimizing Your Images for Printing” on February 20 and 21 at Sun to Moon Gallery.
