The twelve photographers represented by Sun to Moon Gallery work with a variety of genres and subjects, but nature and wild spaces are unquestionably at the top of the list. To celebrate the Centennial of the National Park Service, the gallery assembled a collection of 30 fine prints featuring 20 park units in the national park system. Prints by each of the twelve photographers are included, including Alan Ross and John Sexton, the great Ansel Adams’ (arguably the most famous photographer ever of our national parks) last two photographic assistants, working with Adams collectively from 1976 until his death in 1984. In addition to gelatin silver prints by Ross and Sexton, large-format color prints by Scot Miller, the current Artist-in-Park for the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park in Stonewall, TX, Charles Cramer, a two-time Artist-in-Park at Yosemite National Park, and Alison Shaw, who served a beach shack artist-in-residency at Cape Cod National Seashore, will be on display and for sale, as well as prints by Annette Bottaro-Walklet, Dan Burkholder, Jeffrey Conley, Anne Larsen, Jill Skupin Burkholder, Keith S. Walklet and R.P. Washburne.
According to Gallery Director Marilyn Miller, “We are fortunate to represent some of the best landscape photographers in the world and look forward to showing their artistry in celebration of the National Park Service Centennial. While exhibition visitors will see some iconic images of parks, many of the images highlight the unique, artistic eyes that the photographers have become so well known for. Well-known parks such as Yosemite National Park and Yellowstone National Park will be represented as well as lesser-known parks, such as Buffalo National River and Golden Gate National Recreation Area. We are also excited to feature an image by Scot Miller from the new Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. He has been working in northern Maine for over a decade in support of the new park.”
Among the areas featured are Acadia National Park (Maine), Bryce Canyon National Park (Utah), Buffalo National River (Arkansas), Cape Cod National Seashore (Massachusetts), Golden Gate National Recreation Area (California), Grand Teton National Park (Wyoming), Great Smoky Mountains National Park (North Carolina, Tennessee), Kings Canyon National Park (California), Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park (Texas), Yellowstone National Park (Wyoming), Yosemite National Park (California), and Zion National Park (Utah).
